I’m 41, in good health, no major issues, with a 4 year old and a 1 year old. How do I find someone to help me get started with life insurance? I realize I should have done it years ago but obviously that ship has sailed. Can I just google and apply? Will I have to do a health screen? Years ago my husband applied and got a super high rate because he took antidepressants. Years ago I took anti-anxiety medicine but no longer am. Will that still impact my rate? Thanks for all the help.
I would look for a life insurance brokerage where someone can shop around for you with different carriers that way you don’t have to go looking up a bunch of different companies/websites. Also you’re still at an age where you’ll get decent rates. I’ve had people in their 60s getting life insurance for the first time so its definitely not unusual people your age seeking insurance.
You can also ask for referrals from those in your network? You are still young and have plenty of runway left. I got my first policy at 35, but subsequently rolled that into a higher value policy when I was 55. So it’s not late at all. The medical questionnaire will go as far back as 5 years…just be truthful.
What state are you in? I am a licensed life insurance agent and I’d love to get you a free quote. Feel free to DM me.
