Life insurance for homeless parent-also no judgement

This is going to be harsh and please don’t take it personally

So my estranged 61 year old mother is homeless, is a drug addict and alcoholic, with 2 DUIs in the last 10 years. She also has asthma and smokes as she possible can.

How hard is it going to be getting life insurance on her? I can probably get a signature but a medical exam is probably out of the questions

I’m hoping for a 250k policy for under 150 a month. I don’t see her living longer than the next 5 years. (But she can surprise me, because she’s a cockroach)

Any suggestions on how to start this process?

Your only hope is guaranteed issue, which caps at $25k.

You are asking to pay $1800/yr for a say 25% chance of a $250k payout. Why would anyone take the other side of that bet?

Final Expense insurance is your best option. Unless you have Power of Attorney, your mom must apply and answer the application questions herself.

Fortunately, there are no medical questions, but the coverage is limited to $25K. Due to her medical conditions and lifestyle choices, as well as financial factors, she can’t qualify for more than that amount. You can’t insure someone for more than their worth.

To protect her from all types of death, you would need a Guaranteed Issue Whole Life (GIWL) final expense policy. Coverage of $25,000 would cost about $150 per month. If you only want to protect her from accidental death, you could probably get $250,000 in coverage for around $30 per month.

absolutely zero chance . life insurance requires financial justification to purchase the coverage.
