Myth or bust: Does life insurance protect you from bad doctors?

I once heard this before but don’t know if it’s true or not? Do they protect you from bad and unnecessary procedure from bad doctors?

Like if the doctors check to see if the patient has life insurance or not, if they do then the doctor don’t want to offer anything bad because they know that the insurance company will sue the hospital and the doctor if something were to go wrong with the patient.

What you said is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read. Nothing in your post came close to making sense. Everyone here is now worse off for reading it. I give you no up-votes, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If it’s not true then it must have come from life insurance agents sales people. Trust me this isn’t the only thing I have ever heard, there’s more I been wanting to ask on this subreddit.

I see the logic here, unlike everyone else. Why wouldn’t an insurance company want to file a medical malpractice suit to recover some of their losses from the claim they paid out? The incentives seem to align. While they don’t have direct damages like the patient and family, getting rid of a bad doctor could help prevent future claims. Even if they aren’t entitled to damages, it would still be a smart investment for them.

I agree with the logic.
