How do I cancel my American Income Life Insurance policy?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to cancel my life insurance with American Income Life (AIL), but it’s been a nightmare. They call me constantly to review my policy and try to sell me stuff I don’t want. I’ve had enough and decided to cancel. Does anyone here work at AIL or know how to get this done? I’m stuck in an endless loop with them.

I called on 6/6/23 and was told they’d send me a cancellation letter to sign and return. Once they got it back, they’d send me a check for the cash value. Instead, I got a bill from them saying I need to pay because my auto payment was canceled. Weeks and months have passed, and I still haven’t received the cancellation letter. But I keep getting bills and non-payment notices. Every time I call, they say they’ll send another cancellation letter, but it never arrives.

What do I need to do to finally cancel this policy? They keep saying they’ll send the letter, but it never comes, while the bills and notices do.

TL;DR: Tried canceling my AIL policy, but they keep delaying by not sending the cancellation letter. How can I end my policy for good?

You could also send them a letter asking to cancel your policy. Make sure you add your policy number and that you want it cancelled relative to when you first called in. AIL should have a record of that interaction.

Forward the letter through certified mail. Make a call and threaten to involve the legal team.

To initiate the cancellation process, you should contact their customer service team directly or reach out via the contact details provided in your policy documents.
