Yes, find a broker or general agency in your area and ask about partnering with them. Some offer higher commissions but poor service, while others may pay slightly less but provide excellent support.

I believe Crump works with most people, but I’m not entirely certain.

Yes, it’s easy. Most insurance agents represent multiple companies. Many start as captive agents but later get a general agent contract, allowing them to sell for any carrier that works with the GA.

Though I’m retired now, I had a colleague in the late '80s who was a captive agent for both Prudential and MetLife with W2 contracts for both. He was a top 10 agent at both companies. But typically, agents work with multiple carriers through a general agent or producers group that holds multiple contracts.

Yes…being independent means finding the best carrier, the best policy for your clients. You are not beholden to selling only one company’s products.
